Have you tried to hook in the libavcodec img_convert() function instead 
of the handcoded YUV conversion? This is much more flexible and knows 
much more different pixel formats - and it's pretty well optimized.

Can you try to explain a little more in detail what's happening? Please 
report driver- and directfb-related problems to the directfb-developers 
on the directfb mailing list - if they are not aware of a problem they 
can' fix it...
