It does use, NPTL and I expect that this causes the problem. The machine 
is running RH Fedora with glibc-2.3.2.

The only plugins running at the moment are remote & dxr3. The dxr3 is my 
only output device so I can not really do without it. I doubt that the 
remote plugin is the cause.
