[vdr] Merging two records

Hi,

by playing around with recording I somehow managed to split one film
into two separate recordings.  While I have read that it is possible
to just

     cat 001.vdr 002.vdr ... > all.vdr

to get a valid recording I was not able to do further cutting
sequences from all.vdr.  I suspect that I also had to merge some
of the other recording files but I have no idea how to do this
or how I could create a new set of these missing files which enable
cutting.
