[vdr] Re: Channel change delay

I'm currently using VDR 1.3.6 and the DVB driver built into 2.6.5-mm4. I'm not sure the old DVB driver even works with this kernel :/

Try different versions of the DVB module, they have different delays. The
latest one (linuxtv-1.0.x) had 4-5 seconds delays(s) - using the one
suggested in the VDR homepage should reduce you to about 1 second for normal
channels.

Also upgrading to vdr 1.3.5 or 1.3.6 can have a positive effect in this
regard.

Subject: [vdr] Channel change delay

Hi,

Is there any way to reduce the massive channel change delays? I am
running 2 DVB-T cards and one Full Featured DVB-S card for output and
channel change times are quite disconcerting.

Every time my parents change the channel they have to ask what's wrong
as the screen stays black for 4 or 5 seconds. Does it really take that
long to change frequency, lock onto the signal and buffer enough of the
stream to begin displaying?

Regards,
Michal
