[vdr] problems with lircd

I have traced some problems to lircd.

If I run vdr without doing setserial /dev/ttyS0 uart none and starting
lircd the program runs fine. I can't change channels... =;-p

If I run with lircd I get BBC channels OK on Astra 2D but not ITN News
or Motors etc. I get the sound for these channels but the image is
scrambled and vdr complains that the stream is probably encrypted. The
BBC channels are sometimes very "hesitant".

Has anyone seen this behaviour?
