in the shutdown script you can check if one of them is running and just
exit the shutdown script at that point.  (see in vdrshutdown in the
nvram-wakeup package for an example how to do it)

what you _could_ do (but that won't fit to every situation), is calling 
'svdrpsend HITK Power' after finishing noad.
