[vdr] Lost sound while making chagnes to linux setup - vdr 1.3.15 kernel2.6.8

Hello,

In the process of trying to debug a USB 1.1 problem in Fedora Core 2
(kernel 2.6.8-1.521), I have managed to lose sound from VDR.

- I am running 1.3.15 with a few plugins (indicated in log below)

- I have a Hauppauge Nexus rev 2.2 dvb-s card (so says sticker on the
card - although it reports itself as 2.1 in system logs)

- I pipe sound out of the card into my PC sound card AND to my TV. It
appears sound is not coming out of the card - no sound on the TV nor
on the PC.

- Sound works in general, i.e. using xine to play a sound or video file.

- Sound is being recorded by VDR. I made a recording and extracted an
audio snippet from the result. It is OK.

- I don't think I have a hardware problem - I have a dual boot system -
dvb-s sound works under Windows with the provided Hauppage applications.

Thus, I broke something in the vdr / dvb driver setup. The primary
change was to remove a firewire PCI card and replace it with a USB 2.0
card so I can use a USB printer. There seem to be many problems getting
some systems to recognize USB devices with the 2.6 kernel.... but that
is another story.

While I was able to get VDR running under FC 2 (kernel 2.6...), I'm a
casual user of Linux, and I really don't have a clear idea what to
check next.

I did try starting VDR without the dvb firmware by removing the
file. I had hoped that removing the file would resolve my USB
problem. I did confirm the firmware file is required and put it
back!

/usr/lib/hotplug/firmware/dvb-ttpci-01.fw (rev. c)

I am loading the dvb drivers with the following commands:

   modprobe dvb-ttpci
   modprobe stv0299
