First off, did I miss something? support for 8PSK seems to be missing (no MOD_8PSK in fe_modulation_t)

What is the reason given for this? Not that I have much of an opinion, but I was just curious why there need to be two sets of ioctls with the same functionality? If you are going to do it that way, why do you need to maintain backwards compatibility at all?
You could define dvb_frontend_parameters without the partition for extended data, since apps will either use the old or the new api (then just call the new ioctls _FE_*_FRONTEND_NEW and be done with it.

oopsy doopsy :)

missed that, fixed in my tree. also added PSK_16.

i had a big discussion with andreas oberitter on that topic. took him in cc now, so he maybe is going to explain it for the ml readers, why same ioctl numbers on different architectures may fail.

andreas? can you explain this again?

best regards

Olivier je te remercie pour cet effort. Ça fait six mois que j'attends ce driver pour faire marcher mon tuner. Ces clés USB Intuix se vendent comme des petits pains en France donc le driver va forcément être apprécié.

Thanks again, we really appreciate you taking the time.

Hi all

I have managed to add support for a MT2060-based USB DVB-T receiver, specifically the :

     LiteOn USB DVB-T TV Tuner : USB VendorID=0x04CA ProductID=0xF000
( Also rebranded as Intuix S800 with the same IDs )

That thing is based on the DibCom 3000P + Microtune MT2060F
+ Cypress FX2LP(CY7C68013A) chipset.

You can download my patches from "www.chez.com/treza/liteon.htm"

The patched driver should work with the following clone devices once their IDs are discovered and added to the dvb-usb-ids.h and dibusb-mc.c files : ( from LinuxTV wiki )
     Grand DVB-T Pen USB 2.0
     YUAN PD300 DVB-T mobility
Typhoon TV Movie Stick (Art. 50506)
     Club 3D ZAP-TV250mini
     ... and probably many others

The patched driver has the following limitations :

     - I do not have the complete datasheet of the MT2060, only the leaked info from the ComTech datasheet K1000737843.pdf.
     - I have tried to implement a spurs avoidance algorithm ( in dvb-usb-i2c.c ), but I could not test it because there is no emitter in my neiborhood using spurs prone frequencies. The algorithm's effect shall be visible with the following TV frequencies ( among others ) : [255MHz], 538MHz, 546MHz, 562MHz, 682MHz, 842MHz. Maybe someone here could try it...
     - My patches are somewhat clumsy as the DibCom 3000M-C/P driver used a fixed tuner ( The Panasonic ENV57H1XD5 ) and the tuner programming functions used by the DibCom 3000M-B driver ( dvb-pll.c ) cannot be used for the MT2060.
     - I'm still investigating on the settings for the dib3000mc_agc_tuner[][12] array ( in dib3000_priv.h ). If you have very weak signals you can change in
dvb_usb_pll_mt2060_init_i2c() ( dvb-usb-i2c.c )  :
"b[1]=0x31; /* Sets the AGC gain */" to "b[1]=0x33; /* Sets the AGC gain */"
I'll settle on that subject within a couple of days.

Olivier DANET

Hi

still no answer (or a solution)?
Does somebody care about this problem?
I'm really looking forward to update my kernel without having to patch it before.

Thank you.

Hi,

I'm using a DVB-T PCI card - and I was wondering if there are any applications, or utilities which display signal-strength / SNR / BER / uncorrected errors, other than tzap?

There is a lot of multi-path from the transmitter that I'm currently pointed at, and as my SNR, and BER are a bit rubbish currently, I'm going to first try and climb up into my loft-space, and play with the distribution amp set up (which is non-trivial, as it includes outputs for 3 other flats in the building). If that isn't good enough, I'll be up on the roof, to point the aerial a bit better.

So, the problem is one of getting the information to the person who is doing the attenuator twiddling / aerial pointing. Something with a big visible bar-graph would be good, but I would still end up having to get someone to shout at me with an interpretation of what they can see on the screen, in the case where I have to venture up on the roof... This probably gives a long, and probably error prone action-effect feedback loop.

I was thinking that even better would be something to output an audible tone, which changed in pitch according to the input (e.g. the note goes up in pitch when the value of the given monitored variable improves).

Any comments? Before I look into audio synth APIs, and curses apps, has anyone done one already?

Cheers,

Tim.

Hello,

We are at the beginning of the development for an embedded settop box supported by the v4l-dvb. We also like to help development of the 4vl-dvb core. For this we have some questions, maybe someone can answer these:

1) What should we use as a base for the 4vl-dvb core. The only V4 API core is available in dvb-kernel-v4!
The API is changed from API V3 but the documentation of API V4 says: "v3 API is a complete subset of the new v4 API".

2) Because we want to use the Core for an embedded settop box with multiple tuners and demuxes, we need support for multiple pipe within the dvb core.
Is it correct that only the V4 has the multiple pipe support ?

3) For testing and writing applications we want to use a PC with 2 DVB PCI cards. Are there any test applications for the V4 API, and is there a working DVB Card available ?

4) Within the kernel 2.6.10 and higher there is support for 4vl-dvb Version V3. Is this going to be upgraded to V4.

5) Modulator and Scart support is not within the current API. Are there any ideas to add this. Manly because of the video4linux2 merge which has some support for modulator and Scart.

6) Are there already embedded consumer products available that uses the v4l-dvb api. We now of the reelbox, relook settop boxes.

Thank you

JB
