Thanks Michael

I have added v4l-cx2341x-enc.fw to /lib/firmware and now when I load the
blackbird module I get

cx2388x blackbird driver version 0.0.6 loaded
cx8802_register_driver() ->registering driver type=blackbird access=shared
CORE cx88[0]: subsystem: 0070:9600, board: Hauppauge WinTV-HVR1300
DVB-T/Hybrid MPEG Encoder [card=56]
cx88[0]/2: cx23416 based mpeg encoder (blackbird reference design)
cx88[0]/2: registered device video2 [mpeg]
CORE cx88[1]: subsystem: 0070:9600, board: Hauppauge WinTV-HVR1300
DVB-T/Hybrid MPEG Encoder [card=56]
cx88[1]/2: cx23416 based mpeg encoder (blackbird reference design)
cx88[1]/2: registered device video3 [mpeg]
DVB: registering new adapter (bttv0).
DVB: registering frontend 0 (Zarlink MT352 DVB-T)...
cx88[0]/2-bb: Firmware and/or mailbox pointer not initialized or corrupted
cx88[0]/2-bb: Firmware upload successful.
cx88[0]/2-bb: Firmware version is 0x02050032
cx88[1]/2-bb: Firmware and/or mailbox pointer not initialized or corrupted
cx88[1]/2-bb: Firmware upload successful.
cx88[1]/2-bb: Firmware version is 0x02050032

I see that the devices created are /dev/video2 and /dev/video3 and if I look
at them under Mythtv-setup I can see devices referenced as blackbird.
However if I try and view or record programs I get 0 byte files and this
entry in my logs

MPEGRec(/dev/video3) Error: Can't open video device. eno: Device or resource
busy (16)

I wonder if the firmware is a bit dodgy.
