Yes, as there is no 5 volts, it should not affect antenna signal
reception (with antenna without amp).
So your problem is something else...
Have you tested with w_scan:
http://www.edafe.org/vdr/wscan.html
It is sometimes easier to use, as it autoscans all frequencies, so it
does not need any initial scanning data.
