Dear Mr. Hunold,
My name is Goran Miljkovic, from MicronasNIT, part of MICRONAS family.
MicronasNIT is a R&D institute inside science and technology park university of Novi Sad. Institute is oriented towards applied science in area of consumer electronics.
One of our recent development projects is toward design a software for DVB Set-Top Boxes. Therefore, we are very interested in Linux DVB API v4. Especially, because we are working on extension of current DVB API to completely support features of our set-top box.
Current version of Linux DVB API v4 does not nicely support systems having multiple frontends, CAM modules and audio decoders on it. Routing control (selection) of frontend as input to selected CAM module is missing. This can be very interesting on systems with multiple FE (frontends) with PiP (picture in picture) support. Another interesting feature (not fully covered by existing API) is a mixing of several audio streams to same audio output. It may be necessary, that two audio streams are decoded and must be mixed to a single audio output. This is a practical case for
- DTG auxiliary audio (UK feature for disabled persons)
- ATSC associated audio (US feature for commentary,..)
- Audio events (user guide ...)
We would like to align our current activities with your work and , as it is mentioned above, try to define API enhancements for Linux DVB API.
Please let me know more of current status of Linux DVB v4 development.
