Well... I've now actually got a recent ffmpeg snapshot installed and working
(something that I was hoping to avoid until it's packaged for Debian), and I
think that it's properly fixed in current hg now: it seems fine with three
different ffmpeg snapshots (internal, old external, recent external).

Update your snapshot and try again.
