VDR 1.7.5 + oxine + HDMI output

I get sound through the HDMI socket which is good but there is no way to control
it from VDR (I am sure there is but I don't know how to)

The volume level on the screen goes left or right no problems, I can press the
mute button and it works too, except that the actual sound is unaffected.

I have OSS-4.1-1052

Can somebody help or at least point me in the right direction?

dmesg |grep HDA
[ 65.298707] oss_hdaudio: Unknown HDA codec 0x10de0002
[ 65.313732] oss_hdaudio: Unknown HDA codec 0x10de0002

and this is the output from ossinfo
