The Linux Media Infrastructure API (application programming interface) brings together two historically separate API, namely the Video For Linux v2 (V4L2) and the Linux Digital Video Broadcasting (Linux DVB) API into the one all inclusive API.

It is released with each new kernel revision. The latest version is 2.6.32 released 31 August 2009 and is avaliable here
