Blocking of User:MarkusR

Hi Mauro,

I completely agree that the linuxtv wiki should not be an advertisement platform, but deleting everything and blocking the user is IMHO not the right solution.

AFAIK this wiki is supposed to be (as far as possible) a one stop shop for people who look for information about tv on linux. For stuff that is not covered by the current kernel drivers we also point people to external projects. Like for support for their Em2880/Em2870 based USB DVB-T devices.

Instead of removing the apparently biased information, it should be replaced by more objective information. CityK already started that. E.g. on the Sundtek page.

In regard to the user that you blocked. Did you try to get in touch with him? I see that you can't send an email to him via the wiki but there's always the User page and a User_Talk page. IMHO blocking a user should be the last resort.

FWIW: The Block user page says

Use the form below to block write access from a specific IP address or username. This should be done only to prevent vandalism, and in accordance with policy. Fill in a specific reason below (for example, citing particular pages that were vandalized).

but that policy page doesn't even exist. So as long as there is no policy to go by, we should allow all information about linux and tv.

Just to annoy you :-) I'll add my favorite quote by Voltaire: I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it.

Hi Mauro,

May you delete the Turbosight_driver_building page?
