You can show the first row (0:a-g 1:h-n 2:o-u 3:v-z)
and after pressing the first digit (e.g. "1") the column 
(0:a 1:b 2:c 3:e 4:f 6:g); all in one line of the OSD.
But I like the MobilePhone principle more. (Maybe with T9?)
