[linux-dvb] TechnoTrend PCI DVB-C Problem (repost in English)

Hi folks,

sorry but I did not realize this is an english list. Here's a repost of my
previous query in English, I would be most grateful for any hints
or ideas you might have.

Thanks,

Hi folks,

I'm a relative newbie with digital TV and Linux, and have
come across a problem with my TechnoTrend PCI (DVB-C) card.

Driver version is 0.9.4 which I had to patch slightly in order
to get it to recognize my card type:

i2c-core.o: i2c core module version 2.6.2 (20011118)
Linux video capture interface: v1.00
i2c-core.o: driver VES1893 DVB demodulator registered.
i2c-core.o: driver VES1820 DVB demodulator registered.
i2c-core.o: driver L64781 DVB demodulator registered.
init_SP8870:
i2c-core.o: driver SP8870 DVB demodulator registered.
i2c-core.o: driver tda8083 DVB demodulator registered.
i2c-core.o: driver stv0299 DVB demodulator registered.
i2c-core.o: driver i2c TV tuner driver registered.
saa7146_core.o: saa7146(1): bus:0, rev:1, mem:0xd9d89000.
VES1820: attaching VES1820 at 0x12
i2c-core.o: client [VES1820] registered to adapter [saa7146(1)](pos. 0).
VES1820: attached to adapter saa7146(1)
SP8870: no SP8870 found ...
tuner: chip found @ 0x62
i2c-core.o: client [i2c tv tuner chip] registered to adapter [saa7146(1)](pos. 1
).
i2c-core.o: adapter saa7146(1) registered as adapter 0.
dev->subsystem_device: 2
dvb0: AV7111 - firm f0240009, rtsl b0250018, vid 71010068, app 00012119
dvb: 1 dvb(s) found!

The following entry is shown in /proc/pci:

Bus 0, device 9, function 0:
Multimedia controller: Philips Semiconductors SAA7146 (rev 1).
      IRQ 19.
      Master Capable. Latency=32. Min Gnt=15.Max Lat=38.
      Non-prefetchable 32 bit memory at 0xd8100000 [0xd81001ff].

But:

Using vdr 1.0.4, I get all sorts of image errors both when viewing and
recording tv. Sometimes the picture turns very blocky, green and
displays all sorts of other artefacts. Trying a D-Box settop device on
the same antenna cable all is fine, so I suspect it's not a
cable. problem.

Here's some more information on my setup:

2x500 Mhz Celeron SMP (tried using uniprocessor kernel, but the problem
persists)
384MB SD-RAM
Linux Mandrake 8.2
Kernel 2.4.18-6mdksmp
NCR SCSI Controller
1x4GB SCSI, 1x40 GB IDE, SCSI-CDROM

Thanks much in advance for any information. Could this type of error
be caused by some bad RAM on the DVB-C card? Some stations have less
errors (like ARD, ZDF, arte and so on) while others are quite bad
but still display fine on the D-Box.

Please let me know if you need further information and I'll be happy to
provide it.

Cheers & thanks in advance,

Uwe
