Ok.

I just grabbed the dvb drivers from cvs, recompiled both the drivers and
dvbtools accordingly.

At first, I didn't have any luck with exactly the same symptoms as before
i.e. tuning but no data... then, after setting tda1004x_debug = 1, I started
getting data. Why, I don't know.

I cleared the debug option, tried again, and still there's data.

Great! :-)

But if I pipe it through mplayer I don't get a picture just...

tzap -r BBC-1
mplayer - < /dev/dvb/adapter0/dvr0

Am I doing this right? Or am I getting spurious data?

Cheers.
