[mpeg2] no init for kfir on 2.4.0

I feel like I am getting close.

I've included exactly what I did, and a cpuinfo and lspci -vv. The
machine that I'm running this with is 1Ghz Thunderbird, network
 booted, running 2.4.0.

I noticed that the kfir board takes a very long time to load and
while loading has an impact on the machine's performance, but it does
 finally load for me.

Ok, here is lsmod before kfir load:

Module Size Used by
saa711x 3584 0 (unused)
i2c-algo-bit 7392 0
i2c-core 12304 0 [saa711x i2c-algo-bit]
videodev 4608 0

# insmod kfir.o debug=1

and I get the following kernel messages:

<4>Jan 26 15:58:52 bookie/bookie kernel: kfir: Kfir board revision 5e
<4>Jan 26 15:58:55 bookie/bookie kernel: loaded microcode with length 32385

<4>Jan 26 15:58:55 bookie/bookie kernel: kfir: Reset Kfir and PLL ... done
<4>Jan 26 15:58:55 bookie/bookie kernel: kfir: ADSP loading failed!
<4>Jan 26 15:59:01 bookie/bookie last message repeated 9 times

<4>Jan 26 15:59:08 bookie/bookie kernel: kfir: ADSP initialization...failed
<4>Jan 26 15:59:35 bookie/bookie last message repeated 4 times
<4>Jan 26 15:59:35 bookie/bookie kernel: kfir: segment: 0 Failed
<4>Jan 26 15:59:35 bookie/bookie kernel: i2c-core.o: adapter kfir #0 registered as adapter 0.

After looking at kfir.c, the "ADSP loading failed" message seems to
be caused by the card thinking that the firmware wasn't valid.

I didn't have any problems with extracting the firmware, so I'm only
 guessing that they are valid.

Here are md5's on the firmware files:

0bc39339e46973ee3329aba5fccfad6f MPEG1_6.HLD
4e3e3088a1f5ad1e480ef1aa0456cdf5 altera_keb_plx_5e.rbf

Can someone tell me if these look correct?

Any suggestions on what to try next?
