I agree.
But there could be a problem with this.
As an example, I have all my nano recordings on another disk.
/video/Science/nano is a symbolic link to  /video2/nano.
So, if vdr starts to record a new nano episode to /video/yet_unknown
and later wants to move /video/yet_unknown to /video2/nano, a copy
is required which would not have been required if the correct location
would have been used in the first place.
