[vdr] Re: Two VDR, any experiences

Hi Richard,
you are right, that is a very easy solution, working for me well for half a
year. I changed to a second maschine in the living room because:

-LCD display on my HiFi-Host with the possibility to start mp3 playing
without TV
-Dolby 5.1 / AC3 needs some additional lines for audio
-DVD insert

I took a nice small case (spaceshuttle-barbone) that looks HiFi-like, the
picture and the sound is much better when before (I own a Ghz-LoBudget Video
Transmitter). Also I had many probs with the IR-connection, perhaps here are
to many 433MHz device in my neighbourhood.

Anyhow , thanks for your reply!

why using 2 vdr machines?

You could simply put the vdr machine in your cellar and connect TV out,
audio out and an IR with your TV set in the living room. No ugly computer
case in your living room (your wife will honour this :) ), no disturbing
fan. That's how I'm using it for half a year now. The cable length are about
15 meters with no visible quality loss compared with my nokia box.

The only drawback I can imagine is the lack of a DVD drive beside your tv
set, if you _really_ need DVD playback on a regular basis.

ciao
  Richard
