Well in germany we simply used 6.??mm tapes and stuff insteadt of 1/4".
Do not underestimate how much modern technology came from germany, just
think of tape recorders. The same year, the first "easy to use"
industrial VTR came out, Loewe Opta showed the first VTR completely
aimed at the consumer market.

Well I don't think they fully got the "hang" of it, recently I heared of
0.23 centi-hertz in StarTrek
