a lot of people made that mistake or better - the programmer of CD-R writing software made it by simply copying data to a media

for a "real" DVD you also will have to care about the sector numbers when you copy a video_ts directory to a dvd-media (ok, i don´t exactly where to these numbers will have to be)
fact is that a wrong written dvd won´t be played on a lot of standalone dvd players
(we had a lot of discussions about that on www.dvdboard.de/forum last year), most cheap players (i.e. raite clones) will play those discs
