[vdr] shutting down vdr

Hello,
does anyone know a way to stop vdr (not shut down the whole
machine)?

I am writing a script that needs access to the dvb-card,
doing something and then restarts vdr.

AFAIK there is no SVDRP-command. How should I do this?
