When starting a timer recording VDR takes the EPG entry that matches
the point in time in the middle between the start and the end time
of the recording. I wonder how that could take the entry of the previous
event?

For an instant recording it does look only 5 minutes into the future.
Could that have been your problem?

I don't think there would be better data available after the recording has ended.
Besides, it's important that the directory has the right name from the beginning,
because you would expect it under that name in the list of recordings.

The flaw IMHO is not in the DVB standard, but in the people or mechanisms that
generate the input data...
