'cause IMHO that's the way to do it. or do you have any other hardware 
where you have to run a script bevore you can use it?
I am stil hoping that the driver developpers add a "make install" which 
takes care of this.

same for the solution I am looking for. plus drivers get automatically 
loaded / unloaded by the kernel. pretty neat, isn't it?
