Hello List,

for some time now, I think of booting my "small" VDR machine via
LinuxBios (www.linuxbios.org). Until now I had no spare time for such

Hi ;)

Recently I had some experiences with linuxbios. The situation is the following: if you have a pcchips 810 motherboard, or similar ones, you're done. There are bios images at ftp.cwlinux.com you can flash directly. The boot time is about 1 second for the bios itself and then the kernel takes the control of the machine. In few seconds your it will be operating and ready, provided that you don't have a big fat init sequence with sendmail apache and 1000 other daemons ;)

If you have a different board things could be more difficult. Generally speaking, motherboards based on chipset sis 730 (or 735) are (well) supported; however much road has to be done before linuxbios can be used on every board out there.

Provide better details about your hardware, I will be able to answer to you better.

bye!
