[vdr] Re: Can't get a TV picture on DXR3 using Nova-T and VDR1.2.1

I get this too, anythign that tunes the card to a channel first then quits seems to allow vdr to work out. I dont think continually restarting vdr works, as the others suggest try dvbtune or tzap first then use vdr

Hi all

I've installed VDR 1.2.1 and the latest version of the DXR3 plugin. It
built without any problems, but I don't get a TV picture on the DXR3.

My DXR3 installation seems fine (MPlayer plays without any problems) and I
can record programs from the Nova-T with VDR.

I can see the OSD on the DXR3, but no TV picture. In transfer mode I only
get a black screen and no sound, but when I replay a recording I do get
sound, but no picture.

Does anyone have an idea what the problem could be?

Many thanks,
Rene

Hi!

Try to restart vdr. After booting my computer, I have to start vdr, kill it
and restart it 5 seconds later to get a picture on my dxr3. Don't know why
this happens, maybe someone else has a more sophisticated solution.

bye,

Stefan

That's interesting, I had that problem (I am also using a Nova-T, DXR3 and 1.2.1).
I never could work out what was going on but I did work around it.
In my vdr startup script I put a dvbtune command for a known channel, after
that vdr will always start perfectly.

I also noticed that under the situation where vdr came on to record
something then no data would be written to the file, nothing is being
received. After a short while vdr does an emergency exit and the recording
will work fine when it restarts.

Regards,
Sim
