I am quiete sure it the same bug I reported regarding SVDRP with xawtv,
when you quit xawtv and there is an active SVDRP connection...

I had exactly the same "symptom"...

To see in which version in was introduced, just look in the HISTORY for
"broken pipe" (I don't have VDR source here) ;-)
