vdr-xine didn't need any. It was VDR-1.3.17 which required them.

On my EPIA board I was running 2.6.10 with VDR-1.3.17 + vdr-xine-0.6.1 + 
a couple of patches successfully.

Please have a look at vdr-xine-0.6.4. I'm running it successfully here 
with VDR-1.3.18, kernel 2.6.9 + dvb-kernel-cvs of yesterday.
