That's not so good, in my expierence, below 10 MB/sec for buffered reads
is bad and the system is not fast enough for writing and the interrupts
of the dvb-card.

My results:
/dev/hda:
 Timing buffer-cache reads: 1088 MB in 2.00 seconds = 543.27 MB/sec
 Timing buffered disk reads: 118 MB in 3.01 seconds = 39.25 MB/sec

/dev/hdb:
 Timing buffer-cache reads: 984 MB in 2.01 seconds = 489.87 MB/sec
 Timing buffered disk reads: 106 MB in 3.04 seconds = 34.82 MB/sec

/dev/hdc:
 Timing buffer-cache reads: 1032 MB in 2.00 seconds = 515.56 MB/sec
 Timing buffered disk reads: 132 MB in 3.05 seconds = 43.31 MB/sec

/dev/sda:
 Timing buffer-cache reads: 1024 MB in 2.00 seconds = 511.82 MB/sec
 Timing buffered disk reads: 162 MB in 3.02 seconds = 53.69 MB/sec

Check in /proc/ide if you use the correct drivers for your ide-chipset
(might be necessary to compile a new kernel) and check that dma is
enabled ! This can be checked with hdparm -i /dev/hdc in your case !
