== Faking it or how to tune with Kaffiene ==

You might have a problem scanning for channels with kaffiene. What seems to occur is kaffiene only searches on the first Mux and doesnt get you any channels on other frequencies.

Originally I manually entered in the data for a channel on a particular frequency and then exited the channel scanning section and selected this channel returned to channel scan and kaffiene would find the rest of the channels on that mux. However there is a slightly easier method.
.
create a fake channel give it the name fake set the frequency to one of the six muxes put in any audio pid and video pid (any selection of a 3 or 4 digit number (make it up) and save it to your list. go back to the main window and select the fake channel then return to the scanning window and scan for channels this time it should find all available channels on that particular frequency.

probably you could clone an existing channel say bbc1 save it as fake and just change the frequency to suit the mux you are looking for.

essentially what your doing is using the channel selector to force a frequency change and then scanning that frequency for real channels. Ideally kaffiene would use the frequency table you gave it to scan for all channels on all mux's but it doesn't so you need to force it. (till kaffiene fixes that behaviour)

Introduction

This page is a rough draft to hopefully hold some useful info for uk dvb-t card users.

kaffeine is quite a nice ap for tv viewing but tuning can be difficult. however I found that if you know the mux frequency and the sid vid and aud. kaffeine will find everything in the mux

ScanChannelsBDA_UK.exe generates a logfile this is quite useful for kaffeine

Belmont Transmitter Example

Belmont was forgotten and it's details are not readily available.

the following is an edited version of a scan of the Belmont transmitter.

listed here are mux1, mux2, muxB, muxD muxA muxD

in theory all six mux's are consistent just appearing at different frequency locations belmonts transmitter config should be something like this

T 546000000 8MHz 3/4 1/2 QAM16 2k 1/32 NONE

T 690000000 8MHz 2/3 1/2 QAM64 2k 1/32 NONE

T 762166000 8MHz 2/3 1/2 QAM64 2k 1/32 NONE

what next?

ok these are all six muxes for the uk to recieve Belmont i used a catagory 2 aerial (external) to get the first 4 muxes a Slx1p signal booster with 20db variable gain brought in the last two mux's (8.99 from argos)

hopefully specific transmitter info can be moved to a seperate page later. tidy up this page.

Faking it or how to tune with Kaffiene

You might have a problem scanning for channels with kaffiene. What seems to occur is kaffiene only searches on the first Mux and doesnt get you any channels on other frequencies.
