[linux-dvb] XSVCD Creation of VDR recordings - maybe OT

Hi,

as said before I'm creating XSVCDs of recorded DVB streams.
XSVCD means SVCD with higher resolution (720x576 or 704x576 - depends on the station) and higher bitrates (DVBs bitrates -> 3-5Mbit/s).
Before VDR I used windows tool to record .pva files, which seem to be PES files. Then used PVAstrumento (www.offeryn.com) to convert them to mpeg files without errors and 100% a/v sync !
Now this weekend I found the time to experiment a little with the recordings done by vdr 0.7.1 (with DVB driver 0.8.2)

(1.) I used ps2av_pes to convert the 001.vdr to a "whatever.pva" file - I hope this is right ?
(2.) Used PVAstrumento - just as I did before under Windows

But here is my problem, PVAstrumentos Error Log tells the story:
---snip---
==DEMUXING==
AES: C:\video\batman280401.pva.mp2
VES: C:\video\batman280401.pva.mpv
FIXING startup delay.
FIXING stream synch.

Video is late. Cutting audio at start.

ALERT> 44971 video frames missing at 01:45:14.257
ALERT> PTS less than NofP (440 ms < 480 ms) at 00:10:44.680
ALERT> 1 audio frames missing at 00:10:45.085
ALERT> 1438 video frames missing at 01:45:14.260
ALERT> PTS less than NofP (440 ms < 480 ms) at 00:19:31.720
ALERT> 1 audio frames missing at 00:19:32.125
ALERT> 14613 video frames missing at 01:45:14.278
PVA> Error in A/V pack size
PVA> Video continuity error.
9 audio frames missing at the end.
Done.
---snip---
As you can see it complains about several 1000 frames missing - that is not true - but i seems that PVAstrumento detects this because of the PTS Information "jumping" around ?

So, if anyone has an idea about that ?

Is there another way to create XSVCD from DVB recordings ?
I don't want to re-encode the streams - just take them as is - but the resulting XSVCD should be 100% sync.
I'm not sure if mplex with SVCD will do this !? I'm afraid that the a/v sync slightly disappears in some streams - I had this often before PVAstrumento 2.xx was written. A lot of broadcatsing seem to be only in sync, when you use the PTS to display audio and video at the right time - the actual streams may differ - so demuxing and muxing returns a stream which drifts audio and video synchronity apart :-(

Get me right, I'm not keen on using PVAstrumento ! If there is another way of creating XSVCD which also deals those drifts - I'll try that!

Anyone ?

Martin.
