yes, thats fine, the video device is only registered with devfs if a full card 
is detected...

use dvbscan to generate a channels.conf file (placed in ~/.tzap) or put it in 
~/.xine or ~/.mplayer and use those apps (tzap, xine, or mplayer, 
respectively) to tune+view
