Maybe before setting up the card as a network device you should check if 
DVB reception works:

1. Load the modules like before.
2. Check with "lsmod" if the following modules are loaded correctly:
   dvb-core
   skystar2
   mt312
3. Get an appropriate channels.conf for your satellite, for testing one 
free-to-air channel is sufficient.
4. Tune your card with "szap -r -c <path-to-channel.conf> -n 
<number-of-channel-in-your-channel.conf>", keep the command running in 
your terminal. You should see some numbers with the words "FE_HAS_LOCK" 
repeatedly.
5. Open another console and run "mplayer /dev/dvb/adapter0/dvr0". You 
should then see the TV-channel.
