It did work for me without soundcard, but thats some time ago. I used 
Chinch not Scart though.
Maybe it depends on the DVD too. Lately I only used the direct replay of 
DVD within vdr.

Maybe you want test the great program of  Matjaz Thaler which works 
perfectly with data on hd
(but you have to stop vdr first, they can`t run both at the same time)
