ja sure, the problem is: how much time for the plugin system to be
ready? if it will need 6 months, it would be very nice to have a
separate branch of vdr-1.x and a cvs to include code from the variuous
developers, even if Klaus won't administer it...

on the spare time, I've realized:
- a technical menu with realtime signal measurements, bitrate
measurement, frequencies etc etc;
- a picture viewer (every kind of pictures supported by imagemagick and
encoded in I-frame format)
- a font selection done in runtime, not before compilation
- various little modifications

I made everything against AIO0804, and sometimes my coding was too dirty
so I'm not so happy to make a patch for public use... The fact vdr will
stop development for (many?) months it's not a good 'incentive' to fix
and submit those patches (I don't even use this modified VDR but a clean
one when I have to record something eheheheh)
