Wrong way. Try tosvcd, it gives you reliable results and the possibility to 
make vcd-mpeg1-mpegs as you wish I guess. But I cant see any logic in what 
you want. 
- VCD-resolution will give you the possibility of 2 episodes per CD I guess
- SVCD resolution will give you good results with one episode per CD

Try dvd2svcd

Make svcds out of it and you can use than the vcd-plugin, mplayer should play 
near all you have done. 

Like I said: tosvcd is your friend
