No, it doesn't seem so.
I still use vdr 1.0.4 with an old driver/firmware and have an old recording
from RTL on my disk:

End of days, RTL, December, 31th 2002
Index.vdr = 1.540.720 bytes = 192.590 frames = 7704s
00x.vdr = 3.035.531.270 bytes
-> 385 kbyte/s

(part of) Gute Zeiten, Schlechte Zeiten, RTL, January, 03th 2003
Index.vdr = 489.216 bytes = 61.152 frames = 2446s
00x.vdr = 1.156.347.720 bytes
-> 462 kbyte/s

With the vdr/driver/firmware I use, I can't notice such artefacts, so I
assume there's still something wrong with the new driver/firmware.

Greetings,
Christian
