[vdr] stereo/AC3

Hi,

I am using a Suse8.0 box with vdr 1.1.20 (many thanks to the guys who made
those wonderful setup.sh script which gets what VDR needs automatically from
the internet :-)) and its working like a charm.
When watching the classical 'stereo' channels liek VIVA or MTV I do not seem
to get a stereo signal. When I switch back to cable TV my TV set is
switching to stereo after a few seconds and back to mono when I use the PC
again. (At least it sound like that. I am using a Thomson WX65ES 16:9 TV
set) I am using the audio output (analog) of my Hauppauge WinTV Nexus. Rest
of the Hardware is: Soundblaster Live, Athlon XP 2000+, 256MB DDR, Asus A7V.
I tried using the audio out of the soundblaster but seem to get similar
results here. (I have connected the internal audio out of the nexus with the
internal cd in of my soundblaster.)
Is there an easy way to find out if I am getting a stereo/ac3 signal ?
