Yes. Perl is located in /usr/bin

mediaportal bin # ls -F -l perl*
-rwxr-xr-x 2 root root 887012 Jan 8 17:50 perl*
-rwxr-xr-x 2 root root 887012 Jan 8 17:50 perl5.8.0*
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 36812 Jan 8 17:50 perlbug*
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 19003 Jan 8 17:50 perlcc*
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 21813 Jan 8 17:50 perldoc*
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 11658 Jan 8 17:50 perlivp*
mediaportal bin #

When i type at the command prompt:
perl getchannels.pl
it runs.

When i invoke getchannels.pl directly, it says
mediaportal bin # ./getchannels.pl
: bad interpreter: No such file or directory
mediaportal bin #
