Yes. VDR itself uses this by only renaming the primary dir when a
recording is deleted. It just removes the file where the link points to.

I have reorganized the primary directories myself and never had a
problem when deleting a file. And I check the consistency of my video
tree regularily with a own perl script to find video files on
secondaries where no link points to.
