It sounds like a problem with the Skystar2 driver. I have seen the same 
problem with a Skystar2 and a Nexus DVB-S. The picture from the Neuxs card is 
ok, but the Skystar2 has many fragments and sometimes a frozen picture.
At the Choas Communication Camp in Berlin i meet Holger from convergence and 
gave him the Skystar2 card, so they should improve the dirver in the moment.
