Yes, you can now build a VDR box using only a Nova.

That's a more interesting question :)
Take first that the xineliboutput and vdr-xine plugins (yes, two seperate
projects released on the same day!) are still very early code, they are
likely to contain bugs.
Getting proper interlaced video from 'TV out' of a VGA card can be
troublesome.
Also take the ongoing problems that many people have with the Dxr3 plugin like
the OSD crashing (although there are adequate workarounds for this now) and
incompatibility with some plugins due to lack of OSD colour....
The picture quality coming out of the Dxr3 is excellent, however.
Really though, 'suck it and see' - the xine plugins should allow you to use
the EPIA-M versions of Xine and thus use the onboard MPEG2 decoder of those
motherboards..
