When you enters the MP3 menu, the first thing done is to scan the
mp3 directory for playlists (not recursively, only the base dir).
While this happens VDR's control is blocked, but in such a case
VDR watchdog should hit after the specified timeout.

Questions:
Is there a message on the OSD saying "scanning playlists"?
How many files are in the base mp3 directory?
Does VDR watchdog kicks in?
Any console output from the mp3 plugin ongoing while VDR is
blocked?
What is the last output from the mp3 plugin?
Can you identify a process which uses up all cpu time (with top)?

Regards.
