[vdr] two or more harddrives and performance

hello,
i am using vdr with 1 hardrive, this has a performace of about 17mb/s. With 
more than 3 recordings the vdr will have many dropouts - i think this is 
cause of performance of hardrive. I am using all hdparm-options
What will happen if i have two hardrives and mount it in video0 and video1- do 
vdr save some records on hardisk one and also some on harddisk 2?
i am using a via cl266 board -its like epia with 3 pci-sockets.
