I can try that, when I'm back home. In the meantime I was searching on 
vdr-portal.de for that "ERROR: video data stream broken", which seems to be 
a common problem there, especially with a kernel 2.6 and one FF + one 
budget-card. No solution was named, but it may have something to do, if the 
two cards have the same tuner-chip or not. Both of my cards use the STV0299.

BTW I have NPTL enabled (you write, you had no crashes with NPTL disabled), 
as well as the kernel-options "use register arguments" and "use 4kb kernel 
stacks instead of 8 kb". That system is working just fine with everything 
else, and I don't think that this VDSB has anything to do with it.
