Ditto. By the way, I have practically identical setup as Frank, a
single budget card and a DXR3 for output. The problem occurs both with
2.6.8.1 and 2.6.9 kernels (and the DVB drivers from them) here.

Hm, there is a bug in demux.c of older dvb-kernel drivers.
Try this patch:
http://www.escape-edv.de/endriss/dvb/dvb_demux_spinlock_fix.diff

The bug has been fixed in dvb-kernel CVS and kernel 2.6.10-rc1.

I installed the latest cvs dvd-kernel-driver about 3 hours ago.
Since then I had 2 LOCKups :(

I have nothing in syslog at the time, the LOCKup happend. The last entry in syslog was about 10 minutes before the lockup:
Nov 7 20:13:01 vdr vdr[5630]: creating directory /video/video1/Ich_bin_ein_Star_-_Holt_mich_hier_raus!/2004-11-07.20.13.50.99.rec
Nov 7 20:13:01 vdr vdr[5644]: file writer thread started (pid=5644, tid=180236)
Nov 7 20:13:01 vdr vdr[5645]: recording thread started (pid=5645, tid=196621)
Nov 7 20:17:02 vdr /USR/SBIN/CRON[5647]: (root) CMD ( run-parts --report /etc/cron.hourly)
(the CRON was about 9 minutes before the real LOCKup...!)

P.S. Still the plain-vdr-with-only-dxr3 test to do...
