[linux-dvb] DVB-t problems ...

Hi all,

I've been having some problems trying to get a WinTV Nova-T card working with
Linux 2.2.18 (my distribution is Debian 'testing') on an 800MHz Athlon and VIA
KT133 system. I am located in NW11 in London, so I'm using the Crystal Palace
transmitter.

I am using the driver from CVS.

/sbin/lspci reports:

00:0d.0 Class 0480: 1131:7146 (rev 01)
        Subsystem: 13c2:1005
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 32, IRQ 10
        Memory at da001000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=512]

The driver appears to detect the board correctly:

However, I get a bunch of messages like this in the logs:

Apr 5 18:15:48 igor kernel: tuner: tuner type not set

I've tried using an earlier CVS snapshot (sometime in feb, IIRC) and that
failed too.

Much scratching of the head and reading of the mailing list archives later, I
found that there's a bug in the CVS driver, and that it needs modifications
for the UK:

http://www.linuxtv.org/mailinglists/linux-dvb/2002/03-2002/msg00001.html

But still no joy -- 'dvbtune -m' reports SNR is 0 and a 'Verror' of several
thousand, and a BER of about 20--100. (using dvbtune 0.3)

Under Windows I can tune into this multiplex. Reception isn't amazingly good,
but it works... incidentally, will a regular TV aerial booster help? I suspect
it would, but I'd like to check ...

So basically: help! what next? Is the CVS driver br0ken for DVB-t??

Many thanks in advance,

Will
