It is strange. I still did not had a "recovered" or "crash" message. From a
first rough look at your code i also do not understand how this can happen.

Yes, sure.

I increased MAXCHECKS to 150, but until now it doesnt changed anything.

Yesterday i had the first completed lock-up after a long time. The log looks
like this:

Aug 6 23:04:18 [kernel] sp8870_set_frontend: Delay (0 usec)
                - Last output repeated 49 times -
Aug 6 23:04:28 [kernel] sp8870_set_frontend: Delay (30 usec)
Aug 6 23:04:28 [kernel] sp8870_set_frontend: Delay (0 usec)
                - Last output repeated 54 times -
Aug 6 23:04:51 [kernel] sp8870_set_frontend: Delay (20 usec)
Aug 6 23:04:52 [kernel] sp8870_set_frontend: Delay (0 usec)
                - Last output repeated 10 times -
Aug 6 23:04:55 [kernel] sp8870_set_frontend: firmware lockup!
Aug 6 23:04:55 [kernel] sp8870_set_frontend: Delay (50 usec)
Aug 6 23:04:56 [kernel] sp8870_set_frontend: firmware lockup!
                - Last output repeated 52 times -

I have a question to the people with switching problems: how fast do you
switch the channels?
I had the complete lock-up after switching many channels very fast (i switched
to the next channel after seeing the first picture or the on-screen
tv-program). Normaly i do not switch that fast. So maybe the lock-ups are
related to the switching speed?!

Greetings
  Nils
